UMBC- America East

Departed coach/record:  Phil Sterne, 16+ seasons (202-296 overall)

Reason for departure:  Sterne was placed on leave in mid-December and UMBC said it wouldn’t comment since it was a personal matter. In late-February, Sterne announced he was resigning.

New coach/previous position: Johnetta Hayes, Texas Southern head coach: Hayes comes to Baltimore after an excellent stint at Texas Southern. During her time, Hayes took her team to four postseasons, including the NCAA tournament in 2017, and 20+ wins in two of those seasons. Hayes will look to revitalize a stagnant UMBC program.
