6. Minnesota Lynx: Alanna Smith, 6’4 F, Stanford
No one has elevated her draft stock this season more than Alanna Smith, and this may not be as high as it gets, the way she is playing for Tara Vanderveer and Stanford. She’s shooting nearly 60 percent from two and north of 40 percent from three. Her block rate is near nine percent and she finds her teammates at a 16.3 percent clip. Cheryl Reeve has long believed you cannot rebuild a WNBA team from picks that come after the lottery. In this draft, though, there may be so many lottery-level options, she can make an exception. (Also, this is a team with Sylvia Fowles and much more, so Reeve isn’t exactly rebuilding here.)
