The Wolfpack, who dressed just nine for the trip to Louisville, clearly did not have the depth to compete against a Louisville team that likes to apply pressure. N.C. State committed 14 turnovers and shot just 38.2 percent, only the fourth time all season the Pack failed to shoot at least 40 percent from the floor.

But the defense, which had been the trademark of Wes Moore’s team, was nowhere to be found. N.C. State entered Thursday giving up only 58.6 points per game, best in the conference. Louisville had 53 in the first half. The Pack had held opponents to 34.9 percent shooting, also best in the ACC. Louisville shot 73.7 percent in the first quarter to score the early knockout.

"“They played great,” Moore said. “We didn’t. They came out with energy. They came out with urgency and took it to us. I knew they’d be ready to play tonight, and they were.”"

N.C. State entered February 20-0 and on top of the ACC. The Wolfpack end the month backing their way into a top 4 seed and a double bye in next week’s ACC tournament thanks to Syracuse beating Florida State on Thursday night.
