The Dallas Wings coaching and operations staff is fully locked in.

Head coach Brian Agler, entering his first season at the helm after spending four years with the Los Angeles Sparks, added Crystal Robinson as an assistant coach and Bryce Agler as the director of player development. Erin Phillips, Danny Wardell, Travis Charles, Nick Reick and Allison Russell will all return to the staff.

Agler’s staff is one infused with experience at all levels, familiarity with the franchise and fresh perspectives who haven’t been around as long. As a first-year head coach in Dallas, Agler will have a talented core of people around him on the sidelines. We all know the Wings will probably be one of the best defensive teams in the league once Agler remakes the team in his image, but that doesn’t happen without a solid staff.

More from Dallas Wings

Robinson, one of the two new additions, comes to Dallas fresh off a WNBA Championship with Seattle. She enjoyed a stint playing professionally in both the ABL and the WNBA after being drafted by the New York Liberty in 1999, before retiring in 2007. She remained with the Mystics as an assistant coach for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Robinson stuck to coaching from that point on at both the high school and collegiate levels before joining the Storm last year.

“Crystal knows the game and she knows how to transfer her knowledge of the game to the players,” Agler said. “She understands the intangibles that make great players and great teams.”

As for Bryce Agler, he follows his dad from L.A. where he served as a player development coach. Before joining the Sparks’ staff, he was an assistant coach at Eastern Illinois University and a student coach at Wittenberg University for the men’s basketball team.

Charles, although he has been with the team for six years, will transition into the director of basketball operations role. He previously oversaw the logistics in scouting, travel, and video as an assistant director. Reick will fill in for Charles as the assistant director of basketball operations, focusing on advanced statistics and adding to his repertoire video and scouting responsibilities.

Russell is another staffer who has been around the Dallas franchise for a while, entering her sixth season as the director of sports medicine. She previously held the same title at Oral Roberts University before joining the Wings. Phillips is going into her second season with the wings as an assistant coach and Wardell his third as the strength and conditioning coach.
