A rebounding machine.

Cal’s Kristine Anigwe was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week for games played last week. It is the fourth time Anigwe has taken home the weekly honors this season, and it is the seventh time overall that she’s won the award.

In two games that the Bears played last week, a home and home set against Stanford, she averaged 22.5 points per game on 44.8 percent shooting from the field, 22.0 rebounds, and she shot 19-24 from the free-throw line.

On Jan 31, Cal pulled off a major 81-80 upset victory over No. 8 Stanford with Anigwe tallying 25 points on 56.2 percent shooting from the field, 24 rebounds, three assists, and three blocked shots. She also shot 7-8 from the free-throw line.

In the second game against Stanford, one that turned out to be a 75-50 loss for the Bears, she finished with 20 points, albeit shooting only 4-13 from the field, 20 rebounds, two steals, and two blocked shots.

It was also the first time in 20 years that a player has had a 20 point and 20 rebound game against Stanford.

Anigwe has been one of the most dominant and forceful players in the Pac-12 this season. She is a great low post player and has a knack for hitting the glass and grabbing rebounds. To date, she is averaging 22.4 points per game on 51.7 percent shooting from the field, 15.6 rebounds, and 2.0 blocked shots.

Her 22.4 points are good enough for seventh in the nation, and her 15.6 rebounds actually leads the nation. She is this season’s NCAAW leader in double-doubles with 21. She also tied Colleen Galloway for first all-time in total points scored (2,320) at Cal.

The Bears continue conference play this week with home games against Oregon and Oregon State.
