3. Indiana Fever: Teaira McCowan, 6’7 C, Mississippi State

Look, there’s plenty to appreciate about the evolution of Teaira McCowan’s game. She’s a better free-throw shooter. She’s finishing more efficiently around the rim than she did last year. She’s passing the ball more effectively, almost matching her assist total for last season already. But here, take a look. This is why Indiana can’t pass up Teaira McCowan. That block. That staredown. She’s the best rebounder in the country. She put up 26 and 24 against South Carolina, which means Dawn Staley sure doesn’t know how to stop her, and Dawn Staley can figure out anything. This is an Indiana team that finished last in the WNBA in rebounding percentage and block percentage in 2018. Fearless prediction: with Teaira McCowan at center, that won’t be true in 2019.
