Kristine Anigwe named Pac-12 Player of the Week
Big week for the Cal star.
California’s Kristine Anigwe was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week for games played last week. It is the third time this season that Anigwe has taken home the honors, and the sixth time in her career that she’s won the award.
In two games played last week, both wins for the Golden Bears, Anigwe averaged 29.5 points per game on 66.7 percent shooting from the field, 20.5 rebounds, and 2.0 blocked shots.
Behind Anigwe, Cal pulled off a weekend sweep of both Washington State and Washington. In the 77-63 win over Washington State, Anigwe put up 29 points on 61.1 percent shooting from the field. 23 rebounds, two steals, two blocked shots, and shot 7-10 from the free-throw line.
She followed that up with 30 points on 72.7 percent shooting from the field, 18 rebounds, two blocked shots, and a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line in the Bears 79-70 win over Washington.

Going back to last season, Anigwe has put up 18 consecutive double-doubles. She has 17 alone this season which is good enough for most double-doubles in the country. Her 15.2 rebounds per game lead the nation.
She was able to tie the record for seventh most consecutive double-doubles in NCAAW Division 1 history, joining former Pac-12 standouts Cheryl Miller (USC) and Jillian Alleyne (Oregon).
Anigwe has been one of the most dominant players this season, not only in the Pac-12, but overall. Her 22.7 points per game are good enough for sixth overall in the country in scoring. She is shooting 52.7 percent from the field and 66.2 percent from the free-throw line. Although she doesn’t shoot many shots from distance, she is shooting 40 percent from the three-point line.
The Golden Bears will continue conference play as they travel to Utah this coming Friday night.
