The mid-December weeks are the lull of the basketball season as teams gear down while the athletes take their finals. What results is a lot of days with just a handful of games, mostly nondescript non-conference games that are forgotten by all just weeks later. Today, however, we get a bit of an oasis with eight Top 25 teams in action and one really big matchup out on the west coast between Baylor and Stanford, plus several other fun matchups with good odds to play with.

There are also a few games worth watching if you can that don’t have lines available. Those games include Green Bay at #19 Marquette, New Mexico at New Mexico State, and #8 Oregon State vs. Texas A&M in Hawa’ii.

In the last Money Line, I went 4-4 on my picks, and as long as we stay above .500, I’ll feel pretty good. Remember, the key in making picks is all about finding the value. Last week, for example, Tennessee was a team that was getting 7.5 points against a Texas team that by all accounts is a very similar team. That many points between teams that would likely split a 10 games series was a no-brainer. At times it’s okay to pick with “your gut”, but if you follow the numbers and what makes sense, over time you’ll end up hitting more than you miss.

As always, I use 5 Dimes for all lines and remind you to only gamble if you can do so legally and responsibly. I also remind you that while I do not put money on games myself, I pick them as if I were. Okay, let’s get to it.
