WATCH: Louisville’s Asia Durr can sing, dance and play
“It will come down to who plays the smartest…at this point, in college, it’s not about who’s more talented. It’s about who can follow through with the game plan…playing strong, using your mind and minimizing breakdowns.” Asia Durr, Louisville
After a tumultuous summer in regards to her health, the 2017-18 ACC Player of the Year and Louisville standout senior, Asia Durr, is back and ready for her senior season. The goal for Durr and the Cardinals this year is winning the national title.
In a post-Myisha Hines-Allen era, Durr and her fellow veterans have been elevated into leadership positions and Durr is looking forward to it. She is confident in Louisville’s consistency and talent thus far. “Everybody has to step up, but we’ll be fine. We’re a very talented team,” she said. “We just have to keep doing our thing and stay strong.”
Whatever the “thing” or secret recipe head coach Jeff Walz has concocted led them to unprecedented program success during his tenure, including a 2018 Final Four appearance. But even before looking to make a repeat this year, Louisville must take on their deep, competitive ACC counterparts. There’s no hiding the battle for the top between Louisville and Notre Dame, but that top spot—and the ring—can only belong to one. Durr stressed taking it day by day, but assured High Post Hoops that she’s “good [and] ready to go.”

Durr is coming off of a season where she received the title of the ACC Player of the Year and the Lexington Regional’s Most Outstanding Player. It is very likely she’ll eclipse the 2,000 point mark this season, especially with her 2018 season averaging 21.8 points per game, while shooting 46 percent from the field and 41.9 percent from the range. The time is now for the Atlanta native and she’s ready to take on the pressure.
Durr spoke—and sang and danced—with High Post Hoops last month at NCAA National Media Day. Check out her dance moves and vocals, though it’s obvious maybe singing is not her strong suit. But it’s okay because Ms. Nite Nite’s on-court talent is deadly (court, NOT stage). Click the link below to be entertained:
