3. Alanna Smith – Stanford

The loss of Brittany McPhee will hurt the Cardinals, but they’ve got a new senior leader who is looking to fill that void in Alanna Smith.

Smith received invaluable experience this offseason playing with the Australian National Team. She competed against WNBA and other professional players and that will do wonders for her game as she looks to lead the Cardinals to a national championship.

Last season, Smith averaged 13.5 points per game and 7.5 rebounds. This season she was named to the preseason all-conference team. She’s gotten off to a hot start so far. In the Cardinals opening night win over UC Davis, she led the team with 16 points. In a win over Idaho, she led them once again with 19 points and nine rebounds.

Stanford has probably the best chance at dethroning Oregon, the reigning Pac-12 champs, and if they do, you can Smith will be the key reason why.
