Perhaps the most highly anticipated game of the ACC will be Notre Dame hosting Louisville on January 10 at 7 pm ET. Their matchup happens just a week into conference play.  The ESPN-broadcast game will feature All-Americans from both teams.

Asia Durr of Louisville will return after being named ACC Player of the Year and AP First-Team All-American. She is an explosive guard, handles and distributes well enough to run point, a deadly shooter on and off the ball.  In her junior season (17-18), she made 115 3’s, shooting 41.5 percent from behind the arc.

Countering Durr—after playing as Durr’s teammate in the USA 3×3 tournament this past summer—is Arike Ogunbowale, America’s favorite clutch player. She scored two buzzer-beaters, first against the University of Connecticut in the national semifinal game to advance to the NCAA championship, and then again against Mississippi State in the finals, securing a championship with eerie similarity.  She was named second-team All American.

Both Durr and Ogunbowale are projected to be first round picks in High Post Hoops’ current 2019 WNBA Draft Big Board.

In the ESPN Way-Too-Early Top 25 Preseason rankings, Notre Dame is ranked number one, while Louisville holds the fifth spot. Notre Dame returns with the same key players and more (hello, Brianna Turner) this season, and Louisville will look to utilize the talent of Durr with a well-rounded lineup that is only lost Myisha Hines-Allen from last year’s starting five.
