Howard: Okay Rachel, you’re up

You wrote a piece about how the Fever were using Cappie Pondexter and Kelsey Mitchell. Now that the season is over, how do you think that went?

(Also, for those who missed it, @Rachel had one of my favorite pieces from this WNBA season on the Fever earning their first win)

Rachel: I think it was a short term band aid to salvage a tough gamble the Fever attempted to make last offseason. It did bring in some experience and maybe add a win or two they wouldn’t have otherwise gotten. After speaking to both Cappie and Kelsey, you got the sense that it did aid in Mitchell’s development and maybe remove some pressure she had been feeling.

Indiana has to find a way to retool their entire team and that goes far beyond Mitchell or Vivian’s. I think they will need to add more size and other key pieces to even consider being competitive next year.

In short, it’s tough to say. I agree with the decision to add Cappie, I feel the positives outweigh the negatives. But it’s yet to be seen the long term effects the move will have on the franchise.

Howard: And they’re bringing her back in 2019, right?

(Pretty sure that’s yes)

Rachel: Yep! That would be my assumption!
