Unlike in past years, the WNBA removed conferences from the All-Star selection process and picked the top 22 vote-getters. From there, the two All-Star captains held a draft behind closed doors to determine the rosters.
The league didn’t disclose the full results of the draft, but here’s a look at Team Parker and Team Delle Donne:
Team Parker
Liz Cambage, Dallas Wings
Tina Charles, New York Liberty
Skylar Diggins-Smith, Dallas Wings
Chelsea Gray, Los Angeles Sparks
Jewell Loyd, Seattle Storm
Angel McCoughtry, Atlanta Dream
Maya Moore, Minnesota Lynx
Chiney Ogwumike, Connecticut Sun
Nneka Ogwumike, Los Angeles Sparks
Allie Quigley, Chicago Sky
Team Delle Donne
Seimone Augustus, Minnesota Lynx
Sue Bird, Seattle Storm
DeWanna Bonner, Phoenix Mercury
Sylvia Fowles, Minnesota Lynx
Brittney Griner, Phoenix Mercury
Kayla McBride, Las Vegas Aces
Breanna Stewart, Seattle Storm
Diana Taurasi, Phoenix Mercury
Kristi Toliver, Washington Mystics
A’ja Wilson, Las Vegas Aces
Chiney and Nneka Ogwumike will have a throwback to their days at Stanford since they’re lining up on the same side once again. They spent two years together with the Cardinal before the Sparks selected Nneka first overall in the 2012 draft.
Delle Donne made it a priority to get Mystics teammate Kristi Toliver, and tribalism appears to be the case for Parker as well. She’ll be playing alongside Chelsea Gray and Nneka Ogwumike.
For the most part, Delle Donne and Parker kept the team representatives together.
Liz Cambage and Skylar Diggins-Smith will continue the devastating 1-2 combo they’ve built with the Dallas Wings. Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner will bring their combined talents to Team Delle Donne.
Minnesota Lynx fans may have a hard time picking sides. Maya Moore is suiting up with Team Parker, while Sylvia Fowles and Seimone Augustus are rolling with Team Delle Donne.
Likewise, Seattle Storm fans will have split allegiances, with Breanna Stewart and Sue Bird opposing Jewell Loyd in Minneapolis.
In general, the All-Star draft freshened things up and guaranteed some interesting on-court partnerships.
