Takeaways: Fowles and Moore headline fifth straight Lynx win
By Mike Peden
A signature win for a Minnesota Lynx team on a winning streak.
MINNEAPOLIS — Two is better than one. Nowhere is that saying more true than team sports, and the vaunted Minnesota Lynx duo of Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore offered the latest of an increasing list of examples.

Moore scored 32 points and Fowles got 28 points and 17 rebounds, helping the Lynx fend off the Seattle Storm 91-79 Tuesday night at Target Center. Their combined performance overpowered a 27-point effort from Seattle’s Breanna Stewart.
“We were clicking on all areas,” Fowles told reporters after the game. “Everything was within the groove. Nothing was forced.”
As usual, Fowles instilled her might inside, which opened things up for Moore all around. Both reached season highs in scoring, and Moore eclipsed the 30-point mark for the first time since July 2016. Moore couldn’t remember that instance, when she dropped 40 against Connecticut, but not even her past success can distract her from making new memories.
“I don’t think we’re doing anything out there that is above and beyond ourselves. Our coaching staff and our point guards are putting us in position to do what we do,” Moore said.
Just two weeks ago, there were musings that a title defense was above and beyond Minnesota’s (8-6) capabilities. Now, with their fifth straight win, all signs suggest last year’s WNBA champion will earn plenty more.
