Top 20 WNBA players countdown, ranked for the 2018 season: Part 1
13. Seimone Augustus, Minnesota Lynx
Another indispensable member of the Lynx, Augustus found another level in 2017. Challenged by head coach Cheryl Reeve to expand her perimeter game, she shot 43.2 percent from three, lifting her true shooting percentage to 55.8 percent, her best mark since 2014. She remains a failsafe in isolation, registering an absurd 1.368 points per possession in such situations, per Synergy, tops among all WNBA players with at least 50 possessions. Her defensive versatility allows Reeve to mix and match with guards on the perimeter, freeing up Whalen and Maya Moore as matchups dictate. She’s been every bit the player worthy of the hype she produced dating back to high school.
