2019 WNBA Draft: Way-too-early mock draft
Jessica Shepard, 6’4 F, Notre Dame
Consider this: the season Jessica Shepard just had took place outside many of her comfort zones. She led the Irish to a national title playing out of position, guarding fives all season (and well! Synergy had her giving up just 0.681 points per possession this past year), without shooting the three-point shot she’s deployed in the past, in her first year away from the state of Nebraska, learning Muffet McGraw’s complicated offense on the fly. And that’s what she managed to do anyway. Now we’ll get to see her as a more obvious fit, a four next to Brianna Turner, and, frankly, I could watch her just for her outlet passes all day. (For anyone still worried about her conditioning, that she outlasted Teaira McCowan down the stretch in the championship game ought to put that to rest for good.)
