The Chicago Sky successfully added athleticism and versatility at the three and four spots, selecting UConn’s Gabby Williams fourth overall.

It’s easy to see Williams and third overall pick Diamond DeShields on the floor immediately with their three All-Star caliber players (Courtney Vandersloot, Allie Quigley and Stefanie Dolson) from the jump.

Dolson’s emergence in particular ought to be encouraging to Sky fans specific to Williams and her fit with this team. Dolson shot 43.7% on 71 three-point attempts in 2017. With Dolson spotting up or popping for threes, Williams will get plenty of opportunities to attack off the bounce and facilitate from the elbows for head coach Amber Stocks.

It’s no secret that the Sky need to find a way to improve their defense. Williams is a long and athletic defender that will be able to switch out onto the perimeter to defend guards and wings in addition to battling inside with forwards on the glass.
