The Connecticut Sun added even more depth to their backcourt by selecting Lexie Brown out of Duke with the ninth overall pick.

Brown has been an impactful player on both sides of the ball throughout her college career. She scored 19.4 points per game as a senior while shooting 37.1% from three. Brown averaged 4.4 assists and 3.7 steals per game as well. Her steal rate (5.5%) ranked fourth in the country this past season per HerHoopStats.

Brown will immediately step into a very competitive and crowded backcourt with the Sun. All-Defense selection and 2017 All-Star Jasmine Thomas and Courtney Williams are the returning starters. Alex Bentley often was one of the first off the bench for Curt Miller. Rachel Banham filled a similar role when Bentley was away playing in EuroBasket.

Leticia Romero will also be in the mix for Connecticut. Though she was drafted last year, she did not play in the WNBA in 2017. The Sun signed her to a contract this offseason.

Standing at 5’9, Brown projects as a someone that can defend either guard spot and play off the ball when asked as a credible spot up threat.
