2018 WNBA Draft Big Board v. 6.0: Azura Stevens shakes up the board
4. Chicago Sky: Azura Stevens, 6’6 F Connecticut
Consider me skeptical about this until it happens. I’ve written previously about how great a fit Gabby Williams is with the Sky, and her defensive versatility, in particular, would be a strong addition to what Amber Stocks has to work with in the frontcourt. But the general consensus among front offices is to figure Stevens, with seven inches on Williams, will be too tantalizing to pass up in this spot. And it’s certainly understandable—particularly with Stocks, who obviously prioritizes size. I just can’t help but wonder how Gabby Williams is going to punish every team who passes on her for as long as she’s paid to play basketball.
