NCAAW: Maryland women learn their postseason fate

COLLEGE PARK, MD ‚— The first bracket was revealed, but no Terp filled any. The second bracket was called, still no space filled with the Maryland red “M.” Third time’s the charm, right? Not even the Terps were called to the third bracket. However finally, the Lady Terps were called as the no. 5 seed to play no. 12 Princeton in the NCAA Women’s tournament. This will be Maryland’s eighth straight postseason appearance, but this season unlike the other three, they will have to play on the road.

Senior guard Ieshia Small stated she was glad to play on the road this season. “I’m kind of excited to go on the road,” Small told The Summitt. “I was looking forward to it. Any given night can be anybody’s ball game. In the 2014-15 season we lost in the second round at home, so as long as you come to play with your shoes on you’re strapped up and ready to play it’s your night. I don’t care where we’re at, people have to go through us as Maryland.”

The wait was worth it, as the Terps are going dancing again. Brenda Frese has done a tremendous job with this squad despite the setbacks they have suffered. Frese lost three players to transfer, lost their second-best shooter in Blair Watson to injury, and had to rotate only seven players on a nightly basis.

Another year, another success for Brenda Frese. Not one to self-promote, Frese is deserving of your respect, and keeps on proving it.
