WATCH: The Summitt talks to Lindsay Whalen in her Big Ten broadcast
In September, Minnesota Lynx point guard Lindsay Whalen won her fourth world championship against the LA Sparks. Five months later, she puts down the ball and picks up a headset to broadcast. She’s the definition of the Jane of all Basketball Trades.
Already a 4× WNBA champion, 5× WNBA All-Star, 3× All-WNBA First Team, Whalen added another experience to her already polished resume. The Lynx great broadcasted the Maryland Terrapins and Purdue Boilermakers women’s basketball game Thursday night and it certainly shows that she never stops working, even after winning it all. “It’s been good. It’s been fun to learn just how everything goes, she says. “I’m really interested in doing this part of the game.”
Although she’s broadcasting and she loves it, her heart is still with dribbling the ball in her hands. “There’s nothing that I’ll do that’ll be better than playing. Nothing will ever take the place of that.”
Watch the clip below as Lindsay Whalen talks on her experience as a broadcaster, her recent championship, and the future of the Lynx’s upcoming season.
