Thursday, May 24: Los Angeles Sparks at Connecticut Sun

This one matters for a pretty simple reason: Curt Miller’s group, at times, looked ready to take on the duopoly of Sparks-Lynx, before ultimately falling short in the playoffs. This is an early statement game, allowing Jones to show she can outplay Nneka Ogwumike, no easy task, while giving Alyssa Thomas, newly-extended, a chance to slow down Candace Parker. We’ll learn something about the shape of the league here.
