9. Texas 17-4 (8-2 Big 12)

Thanks to a softer stretch of the Big 12 schedule, the Longhorns appear to have stabilized themselves after a rough 3-3 stretch. They have a revenge game scheduled Saturday at home against TCU.

10. Florida State 18-3 (6-2 ACC)

Some early season wins were doing a lot of the ‘Noles’ heavy lifting until they won at Louisville. One more signature win for this group and they can find themselves on the 2 line. Games at NC State and Duke, as well as at home against Virginia, remain.

11. UCLA 17-4 (8-2 Pac-12)

Winners of six straight and eight out of nine, the Bruins are on an absolute roll right now. Back-to-back games against USC should provide a test, but all eyes are on Feb. 19 and their trip to Eugene.

12. Texas A&M 17-5 (6-2 SEC)

Sure, the Aggies do have five losses. But they also have six wins in the SEC, including one over Tennessee. Prediction time: The team that loses Thursday’s game against the Vols will drop a seed line.
