5. Baylor 20-1 (10-0 Big 12)

Since I had Baylor as the lowest 3 seed two weeks ago, the Bears have gone 4-0 with wins over Texas and at West Virginia. Point taken. The next possible hiccup for Baylor: Feb. 19 on a return trip to Austin.

6. Oregon 20-3 (9-1 Pac-12)

The Ducks dropped two spots from the NCAA reveal, partially because of an excusable loss at Oregon State and partially because of the run that Notre Dame and Baylor have gone on. Of their eight remaining regular season games, five are against top 50 teams.

7. South Carolina 18-3 (7-2 SEC)

It’s hard to imagine a scenario where South Carolina does not find its way onto the 1 line if it beats UConn and Mississippi State back-to-back. Heck, even if the Gamecocks just win one of those games, they have a good argument.

8. Tennessee 17-4 (5-3 SEC)

How can I justify only dropping the Lady Vols to eight overall? Wins over Marquette and Texas, and at South Carolina and Stanford have a lot to do with that. If they lose Thursday to Texas A&M, we can revisit the discussion.
