ACC updates: comebacks, surprises and disappointments
Louisville (20-1, 6-1), prior to Sunday’s Florida State (18-2, 6-1) matchup, was one of three remaining undefeated teams. By Sunday night, the Top 25 battle resulted in the Cardinals’ first loss of the season.
Asia Durr and the Louisville Cardinals were spotless before turnovers and missed shots cost them the game in final seconds. Louisville did not fully utilize the low Seminole shooting percentage in the first shots of the game; FSU missed 14 out of their first 17 shots.
Florida State’s defensive pressure was enough to put a halt on Durr’s 30-point games, restricting her to 11 points.
A combination of a well-thought-out zone, AJ Alix’s swing-three and Nicki Ekhomu’s made free throw allowed FSU to hand Louisville its first loss by a single point. The final score was 50-49.
Louisville dropped to No. 4, while Florida State rose to No. 8.
