It was 1972 when the first McDonald’s All American game was put together, a game played in Washington D.C. that pitted the best high school male basketball players against each other in a exhibition game. The following year, the East v. West format that we currently know was formed and it’s been the same ever since. The girls weren’t included in the game until 2002 but since then, the prestige of the girls game has elevated to the same level of the male counterparts.
The 2018 rosters for the girls side were announced yesterday and the talent is abundant. While the names of the athletes may be familiar to those following whichever colleges they signed with, most haven’t seen them play. In the following pages, I’ve included all available information on the athletes, including where they are going, who else they considered (if available), a highlight video (if available) and more. For more information on the athlete, simply click the link attached to their name. They are broken down by conferences and we start with one of the conferences that is tied for the most: the Big 12.
