ALBANY REGIONAL:

Storrs:

1. Connecticut (American)
16. Robert Morris (NEC)

8. Florida Gulf Coast (Atlantic Sun)
9. Virginia

UConn is the No. 1 overall seed until someone can prove otherwise. Texas (Jan. 15) and South Carolina (Feb. 1) will both have opportunities, but until then, the Huskies are comfortably at the top. Assuming Robert Morris doesn’t morph into the Monstars and take UConn down, it would face either Florida Gulf Coast or Virginia in the second round. FGCU is the weakest of the four 8 seeds, but earned a spot in the top half of the field thanks to three RPI top 100 wins and no sub-100 losses. The downside for the Eagles: In the ASUN, there is no margin for error. Any loss likely drops them a line.

Iowa City:

4. Iowa
13. UC Davis (Big West)

5. Texas A&M
12. New Mexico (Mountain West)

Even with their loss at Maryland last week, the Hawkeyes have a sneaky-good resume that features wins over four teams in our field. The Aggies aren’t so bad themselves, with a win at USC and no loss against an opponent outside the RPI top 30. This could be an excellent second-round matchup provided they can get past two projected conference champions who are better than you think.
