Iowa’s Megan Gustafson earned the Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll this week. This award will be the 15th award of her career. She has earned nine straight conference honors.
She is one player of the week award away from tying Ohio State’s Jantel Lavender for the most Player of the Week awards in a single season. Along with that, she is only one of the five Big Ten student-athletes to have five player of the week awards in a single season. Gustafson is averaging 24.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and shooting 68 percent from the field.
With the start power of Kelsey Mitchell and even Tyra Buss, Gustafson is a name that should be mentioned more. She has the talent to really take Iowa to the next level in the NCAA tournament and go far.
Ohio State’s Kelsey Mitchell has earned her third Big Ten Player of the Week honor. She averaged 29 points four assists and 3.5 rebounds in the two games against Cincinnati and rival Michigan. In the Michigan game, Mitchell scored a season 37 points, including nine points in overtime. This is the 11th time in her career to have this honor, and judging by her season, it won’t be the last.
Iowa and Ohio State will not face off until the 25th, but this matchup is definitely one to look out for.
