Although Indiana lost to Penn State, guard Tyra Buss broke the program scoring record with 1,931 points. With this, she passes Denise Jackson, who set her record in the 1983-1984 season. Coming in the contest, Buss just needed 14 points to break Jackson’s record. She nearly doubled that, scoring 27 points in the 77-74 loss to Penn State on the road.

This is not the only time Buss has. She isn’t even done yet. She is 64 assists away from breaking Trisha Hill’s program record of 533 set in 1992. She’s also 13 steals away from breaking the all-time record set by Kim Roberson in 2009.

The downside for Indiana is that they come in dead last, with a record of 7-9. Heading into the season, Indiana was poised to be near the top and it was expected that they would be near the top of the conference standings. However, them and Rutgers has switched places, which is very surprising.

The Hoosier will stay home to face Purdue Jan. 6. In that game, it is very well possible that Buss will continue to break some records. Kelsey Mitchell is the darling of the conference this season, but right behind her is another great guard who is trying to cement her senior season as a one of the greatest players in the Big Ten.
