Kelsey Mitchell scored 30 points, and had a season high five steals in their 103-77 win over Florida Wednesday night. But that’s not all.
With those stats, Mitchell became the Ohio State Buckeyes’ all-time leading scorer. And it didn’t even take that long for her to become a new legend. The record came at the 2:57 mark in the first quarter. This was also Mitchell’s fifth 30-point game and the 25th of her career.
The help of her teammates made her night that much more easier to achieve. Asia Doss scored 14 points, while Sierra Calhoun scored a season-high 21 points, one point of a career high.
Mitchell has scored 2,840 points as a Buckeye, passing Jantel Lavender, who scored 2,818 from 2007-2011.
Mitchell is not new to setting records in her collegiate career. In her junior season, she led the Big Ten in scoring and was ninth in the country at 22.6 points per game. She also made 115 three-pointers which were the second-most in the Big Ten.
Overall, she has been selected as First team All-Big Ten (2015, 2016, 2017), B1G Player of the Year (2015, 2017), USBWA and ESPNW National Freshman of the Year (2015) and was Unanimous B1G Freshman of the Year in 2015.
If anyone isn’t watching Mitchell right they are missing out, because she is going to be a terror at the next level.
