Don’t lose sight of just how impressive Stef Dolson’s 2017 was. Asked to learn a new system, surrounded by mostly younger players and a roster in flux, Dolson not only played every bit as well as she had in Washington, she even added to her game. She shot 43.7 percent from three. She rim-protected and facilitated. She grabbed a bunch of defensive boards and converted her free throws at an elite rate. Dolson is just 25, and the gamble Amber Stocks made, that she’d be a star they could build around, has turned out to be a sound one.
