Minnesota’s Kenisha Bell, Purdue’s Ae’Rianna Harris earn Big Ten Honors

The Big Ten announced their second week of weekly awards for the season. Minnesota guard Kenisha Bell, and Purdue forward Ae’Rianna Harris. Minnesota’s Destiny Pitts received Freshman of the Week as well.

The Golden Golphers have put together two 100+ point victories in their four games of play. Bell, in three games last week averaged 24.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 2.0 steals in their victories. She also recorded three double-doubles along with a .522 field-goal percentage. She was two assists away from recording her first triple double with 22 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in their game against Rhode Island. Bell earns her very first career Player of the Week honor.

Purdue has stringed together three impressive wins to stay undefeated this season. Purdue sophomore forward Ae’Rianna Harris’ has greatly helped that, as she has notched two career double-doubles. She recorded 20 points, 12.5 rebounds and shot at a .772 percentage as the Boilermakers improve to 3-0 on the season. She also had a career-high 22 points and 11 rebounds in Purdue’s victory over Miami (Ohio). This will also be Harris’ first career Player of the Week honor.

Minnesota will look to improve to 5-0 as they play Xavier Wednesday at 9 p.m. Meanwhile Purdue will look to improve to 3-0 as they play Utah tonight at 9 p.m.
