Durr breaks Louisville single game record in 95-90 OT win against Ohio State
Tonight’s ACC/Big Ten top 10 match up between No. 10 Louisville and No. 8 Ohio State resulted in a 95-90 overtime win for the Cardinals.
As Louisville progressed to 2-0, junior Asia Durr showed early signs of being a dominant court presence for her team. Durr scored 47 points, the most points in a single game in program history, beating Angel McCoughtry’s previous record of 43.
Durr was 16-29 on the field, 9-15 for three pointers. The nine threes were good enough for her career best. In addition to her 47 points, she snatched six rebounds.
With a 30 point contribution in the second half, Durr made runs to give her team the edge at just the right time. She had a spurt of 10 points early in the third to increase Louisville’s lead over the Buckeyes. The tenacity continued and ultimately led to tenth-ranked Louisville beating eighth-ranked Ohio State in a hard-fought battle that ended in an OT score of 95-90.
Tonight’s performance heavily contrasted her eight-point season debut against SEMO. She played 20 minutes and was three of nine shooting opening night. Judging from her sophomore stats, the latter game is a more predictive indication of how she will perform this season.
Along with Durr’s stellar numbers, Myisha Hines-Allen notched a double double with 14 points and 15 rebounds and Sam Fuehring drew six charges.
Louisville will face Toledo next at the KFC arena on November 14 at 7pm ET. The Cards also take on the Kentucky Wildcats on December 17 before conference play begins.
