When an actual husky dog strolled into the gym at Central Arkansas Christian School earlier today, the fans in attendance knew that Christyn Williams would be headed to the University of Connecticut in the fall.
Williams, the top prospect in the 2018 class, picked UConn over South Carolina. She said that the school is where she felt most comfortable. Immediately after making her announcement, she said on ESPN that her goal is to become “legendary” and wants her name mentioned in the same breath as Maya Moore and Diana Taurasi.

She becomes the first player to sign with UConn for next season but will be the third No.1 HoopGurlz nationwide prospect on the team in addition to Megan Walker and Katie Lou Samuelson.
Another top-ranked player in the 2018 class, Olivia Nelson-Ododa, is also considering the Huskies.
UConn will be stacked next season regardless of whether Napheesa Collier and Azurá Stevens opt for next year’s WNBA Draft instead of returning for their senior years. Williams will have the challenge of finding minutes just like the freshman on this year’s team.
