The Summitt Slack Summit: Previewing the WNBA Finals

Howard: Okay, final thoughts! Mine is: I have this feeling we’re about to see the Lindsay Whalen finals performance for the ages. She got a chance to rest because of the hand injury, she looks fully comfortable back in the flow of running that offense, I just expect we’ll see big things.

Lindsay: In the semifinals, Whalen was just able to take over games at the end when she needed to; nothing flashy in the stats, but momentum-changing steals and shots. I expect a lot of that.

By that I mean, her stats might not be great this series, but she’ll have a huge impact

Brian: Two most intriguing teams going into the off season for me. Liberty and Wings. Has a team that finished 3rd in the regular season ever looked so lost going into the off season? As currently constructed, you have to think *they have hit their ceiling.* amiright? As for the Wings, a team seemingly on the rise, what do they do with their 5 sophs…and can they land Cambage>

Erica: I’m watching Seimone in this series. As for Libs, I don’t think the’ve hit their peak as constructed, that’s what I’ve found so perplexing. With that said, I do think some (but at least one) change needs to happen. As far as Dallas, they can leapfrog a few 2017 teams with the right player.

Blake: Finals are exciting, duh. With my roots in the game coming from the college game, I’m super excited about the college season but as far as WNBA ties are concerned, the draft is so good. I’m excited to see who lands what pick and how that plays out. For the first time in a long time there are players that will be picked late 1st round that have legit All-Star potential.

Jada: as for Dallas… they need a dominate big. courtney paris just couldn’t always get it done and then you have Plasiance who is a stretch 4 more than a 5. i think once they get the big.. Cambage or another, it’s looking up

Ben: I think we see a great series from Rebekkah Brunson–holds up well when she’s guarding Parker by herself, smart as heck off the ball. And she’ll pull the trigger if left wide open on the other end.
