The Summitt Slack Summit: Previewing the WNBA Finals
Every week (except for the ones we miss), The Summitt staff takes a few minutes to talk about the latest happenings from around the WNBA. Below, you’ll find the transcript of our discussion, which took place in our Slack room this afternoon.
Howard Megdal: Good afternoon, and welcome to The Summitt Summit!
Howard: Lots of fun to get to today. Place I want to start is: Lynx-Sparks. Who you have and why. My quick and dirty: Lynx in five. Not betting against Cheryl Reeve and Maya Moore on their home floor in a deciding game that can avenge last year. They’ve never gone two straight seasons without a WNBA title. I predict that continues, even with the greatness of the Sparks.
Blake DuDonis: I… agree. For all of those reasons. And, simply, I think they have more talent and are the better team.
Lindsay Gibbs: I keep changing my mind, but ultimately, I think you’re on the money, Howard. There were some shaky moments late in the season, but getting Whalen back and getting the week of rest seems to have taken care of all of that.
Erica Ayala: I’m with Lindsay, I keep going back and forth. My gut is to go with Minnesota. I can also see the series going four games
Ben Dull: Sparks can repeat for a second time in their history. Lynx can continue the odd-year magic. I’m flipping a penny for it. Both are impossible to lock up and have been lights out at home. Sparks in 5.
Blake: #WestCoastBias by Ben
Jada Butts: i’m going with Lynx in 5. I think they have been motivated by what happened last year and like Seimone Augustus said, they are getting old. they are gonna have to go get this one while they can
