Whalen brings the heroics on her college court
After playing just 16 minutes in her first game back from injury on Tuesday, it seemed safe to temper expectations for Lindsay Whalen in Game 2. She got into foul trouble early, playing just one minute in the first quarter. But her performance on Thursday wasn’t about the start; it was about the finish.
Whalen scored seven of her nine points in the final frame, finishing with nine points, seven assists, and three rebounds. She even added a block and a steal off of an inbound pass that setup an easy Rebekkah Brunson jumper.
Seeing Whalen slash through the paint for spinning layups and jumping passing lanes evoked the Whalen that many watched play at Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota and earlier in her WNBA career.
