The final day of the WNBA’s 2017 regular season will feature a first.  The Dallas Wings and New York Liberty contest in Arlington, Texas on September 3rd will be livestreamed on TIDAL, a global, experiential entertainment platform best known for its subscription music service.  TIDAL will also provide fans watching the game online an easy way to donate funds to the Red Cross and the Dallas Women’s Foundation in support of Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.  The Wings will donate $1 for each ticket sold to help relief agencies in North Texas.

The stream will be available on TIDAL’s app and at TIDAL.com/WNBA.

Beyond the game, TIDAL will feature music playlists selected by Liberty and Wings’ players.  TIDAL artist Justine Skye will perform the national anthem and the musical halftime entertainment at the game.

It is not clear yet if TIDAL will stream any games in the future. A league spokesperson said it is possible but there just have been discussions so far.  With its separate relationship with Twitter, livestreaming has helped the WNBA expand its reach to global fans.

One reason WNBA President Lisa Borders is excited to team with TIDAL is because of music and sports. “WNBA fans are passionate about both and TIDAL brings these two passions together on one dynamic platform,” she said.

The Liberty beat the Wings by single digits twice this season.  The finale takes place at 2:00 ET.
