WNBA news: Chicago Sky sign Adut Bulgak for remainder of season
Bulgak has a few WNBA games under her belt. The New York Liberty originally drafted her in 2016, first round. She was the 12th overall selection. Bulgak then appeared in seven games, averaging 3.3 minutes, 2.0 points, and 1.3 rebounds per game. She was released early in the 2016 season.
The San Antonio Stars signed Bulgak in March 2017 to a training camp contract. She was wavied on May 3.
Prior to the WNBA, Bulgak’s contribution to the Canadian National Development Team led her to a silver medal at the 2015 World University Games in South Korea and a championship in the 2014 William Jones Cup in Taiwan.
In Bulgak’s latest professional performance, she averaged 11.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game with her team IDK Gipuzkoa Universidad Del Pais Vasco in Spain.
Standing at 6’4, Bulgak has been known in the past for her rebounding and blocking, especially in her high-ranking collegiate display at Florida State University. This could be integral in the next game for Chicago as they take on the Connecticut Sun and are forced to the constrict bigs like Jonquel Jones.
The Sky (11-18) is in the ninth spot overall and is scheduled to face the third ranked Sun (19-10) on Friday. They are two games behind the seventh and eighth ranked Seattle Storm and Dallas Wings, respectively. Things will have to go flawlessly for the Sky for the remaining three games in order for them to squeeze into a spot in the playoffs; only the top eight teams will be granted a post-season.
The Chicago Sky will play the Connecticut Sun at the Mohegan Sun Arena on August 25 at 7pm ET. The game will be available on LeaguePass.
