Fives games commence tonight, beginning at 7pm ET. It is crunch time for playoff standings. But, due to player injuries, the games may be more unpredictable as of late.
Washington Mystics vs. Phoenix Mercury
The Washington Mystics (16-11), already short Elena Delle Donne and Tayler Hill, will host the Phoenix Mercury (14-13) who have counted out Angel Robinson as of recent. Robinson suffered a right knee injury and will not play in tonight’s game.
Brittney Griner, however, returned to the Mercury in last week’s game against the Storm. She is back in regular rotation.
Indiana Fever vs. Minnesota Lynx
Social media has been booming after Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson posted a picture of her foot in a boot and crutches in the background. Soon after, Rachel Blount from The Star Tribune tweeted about Brunson’s sprained left ankle. According to the tweet, she will be missing about two weeks. Brunson tweaked her ankle early in the 61-62 loss against Seattle.
This news comes at a difficult time. Former starting guard Lindsay Whalen just underwent surgery for a broken left hand. She is still ineligible for play.
The Lynx (21-5) take on the Indiana Fever (9-19), who announced earlier in the week that guard Tiffany Mitchell will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.
Chicago Sky vs. Los Angeles Sparks
The Chicago Sky (11-16) are set to host the Los Angeles Sparks (20-8). They must take on the playoff-clinched opponent without forward Cheyenne Parker. Parker’s right ankle sprain will cause her to miss the game. Updates on her ankle will be provided by the Sky as necessary.
San Antonio Stars vs. Seattle Storm
The final game of the night is the San Antonio Stars (7-22)/Seattle Storm (12-16) faceoff. The Stars have been hot, late in the season, winning four of the last five games played. Yet, the Storm is just coming off of a win against top-ranked Minnesota. Things will be intense. However, the Stars must reconfigure due to guard Moriah Jefferson’s absence. Jefferson is experiencing right knee soreness and will sit out tonight’s game.
The New York Liberty/Connecticut Sun game will kickoff the night full of back to back WNBA games. The games are available on League Pass beginning at 7pm ET.
