ATLANTA, GA - JULY 28: Seimone Augustus

Minnesota Lynx guard Seimone Augustus, out for the past two games due to “personal reasons”, will return to the Minnesota lineup. The return was first reported by Kent Youngblood of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Augustus, enjoying yet another all star campaign in this, her twelfth season, is expected to be back to play Sunday against the Indiana Fever. It’ll be a welcome return for the juggernaut Lynx, even though Minnesota managed to win both games in her absence, over Seattle on July 30 and Atlanta on August 3.

More from Minnesota Lynx

Augustus is averaging 11.5 points per game, but this obscures how effective she’s been this season. Her 51.6 percent mark overall from the field would be her best since 2011, and her 45.5 percent from three would be her finest season from deep in her career.

She’s also taking advantage of her teammates to an unprecedented degree, with a 21.6 assist percentage, another career high. Not that this has come at the expense of her patented iso game. Per Synergy, she’s at 1.333 points per possession in isolations, including passes, putting her second in the league to Maya Moore.

All this has come in a season when Augustus is averaging 28 minutes per game, with Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve carefully limiting the minutes of her veterans as the team pursues its fourth WNBA title in seven seasons.
