Aeriel Powers will return to the Wings roster after an off-season hip surgery last November. Powers averaged 10.4 points per game for the Wings in her rookie season – earning her an All-Rookie team selection. She experienced a setback in her recovery, rendering her incapable of making an appearance until today. Just a week ago, The Summitt reported that Power rolled her ankle in practice.Dallas Wings PR has
The Dallas Wings organization expressed Powers was available for tonight’s game against the Indiana Fever. This will be her sophomore debut, should she see minutes tonight. Fred Williams has relied a lot on rookies Allisha Gray and Kaela Davis in the absence of Powers. The rookies have indeed stepped up, making Powers’ return “money in the bank”, according to an interview with Williams last month.
Powers returns to a team eager to gain more cushion in the WNBA standings. They enter tonight’s game 10-12, good enough for 7th in the league for now. However, they trail a New York team on a 2-game winning streak and narrowly lead an Atlanta Dream team that beat them convincingly on July 9. The Wings will play each opponent once more in the regular season.
The Wings will travel to Seattle on Friday and Los Angeles on Sunday before returning to College Park Center Friday, August 4.
