Chicago Sky center Imani Boyette has never shied away from embracing who she is and the causes that matter most to her.
So it was a fortunate confluence of events that brought her Chicago Sky to Seattle for the game Storm ownership set aside as a rally and fundraiser for Planned Parenthood, a group close to Boyette’s heart.
“Today was just amazing to see all the support from women, men, from babies all the way up to people my grandparents’ age,” Boyette said.
It was quite an eventful night for Boyette, who participated in the rally held at KeyArena, then came inside and helped deliver a 94-83 win for the Sky over the Storm, scoring nine points and adding four rebounds in just under 19 minutes of action.
“Imani Boyette came off the bench first and provided a great spark for us,” Sky head coach Amber Stocks said following the game. “She has length and is able to take care of rebounding and getting us great scoring around the rim.”
But the number most were focused on Tuesday night was $41,790, the amount of money raised for Planned Parenthood thanks to the $5 per ticket that the Storm pledged toward the organization.
