The New York Liberty have re-signed their former second-round pick, Ameryst Alston, the team announced on Friday.

Alston was the 24th overall pick in the 2016 WNBA Draft and appeared in one game for the Liberty in her rookie season. The guard out of Ohio State re-joined the Liberty during the preseason, where she averaged 3.3 points per game and did not make the regular season roster.

As a Buckeye, Alston was a 2,000-point scorer and three-time All-Big Ten First Team selection.

The Liberty waived Chelsea Hopkins on Wednesday to make room for Alston. The team is still short-handed in the backcourt with Brittany Boyd out for the year with an injury and Epiphany Prince spending most of June overseas.

The Liberty host the Seattle Storm on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
