The Chicago Sky have signed forward Shayla Cooper, the team announced on Thursday.

Cooper was selected by the Connecticut Sun as the first pick in the second round of the 2017 WNBA Draft. She then signed a training camp contract with the Sky, playing two games and averaging 4.5 points over 11 minutes per contest.

Last season for Ohio State, Cooper averaged 10.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, and over her career, became the 33rd 1,000-point scorer in school history.

The Sky are just 1-7 and have lost five straight games. They visit San Antonio on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT.

Liberty waive Hopkins

The New York Liberty waived Chelsea Hopkins on Wednesday, just days after signing her. The Liberty brought in Hopkins to provide some short-term depth while Epiphany Prince is overseas. Hopkins played just one minute over the two games the Liberty have played since signing her.

The Liberty have won three straight games and host the Seattle Storm on Sunday.
