Point guard Chelsea Hopkins has signed with the New York Liberty, the team announced on Saturday.
Hopkins joins Lindsay Allen as recent additions for New York to help offset the recent losses of Epiphany Prince and Kia Vaughn to Eurobasket responsibilities, as well as Brittany Boyd’s season-ending injury.
The guard out of San Diego State was with the Liberty for training camp in 2015 and played with the Sparks in training camp this season. She has appeared in four career WNBA games, all in 2013 with the San Antonio Stars.
Hopkins should give the Liberty some more depth in the backcourt, at least until Prince returns at the end of the month.
The Liberty face the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday in the third game of a five-game homestand. They defeated the Dallas Wings, 93-89, on Friday.
