Atlanta’s Tiffany Hayes and Minnesota’s Sylvia Fowles have been named the WNBA Players of the Month for May in the Eastern and Western conferences respectively.
The Dream and Lynx are a combined 10-1 behind their first-month stars.
Hayes has at least tied for Atlanta’s scoring lead in each of the Dream’s five games. Her 19.8 points per game also make her tied with Elena Delle Donne for the overall Eastern Conference scoring lead. To go with her scoring, she’s averaging 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest.
Meanwhile Fowles has been one of the most effective players in the WNBA this season, leading the west in both field goal percentage (61.1 percent) and rebounding (10.7 per game). Her 20.0 points per game put her fourth in the West and her 2.3 blocks are second. In six games, Fowles has also recorded four double-doubles.
Minnesota plays next at Seattle on Saturday, while Atlanta is in action on Sunday in Washington.
