Atlanta Dream guard Tiffany Hayes has suffered a mild ankle sprain and is listed as day-to-day, a spokesperson for The Dream told The Summitt.
Monday’s report from Atlanta is certainly a relief for fans and team personnel concerned about the severity of Hayes’ injury, which occurred in the closing seconds of Sunday’s game between Atlanta and the Chicago Sky. While attempting to chase down an offensive rebound, Hayes stumbled and hit the padding that surrounds the support structure underneath the basket. Unable to put any weight on her injured ankle, Hayes was carried off the court.
Atlanta’s next game is Saturday, when they host Los Angeles. That gives Hayes a few days to heal. She is the Dream’s leading scorer, averaging 19.7 points per game this season.
