New York Liberty guard Brittany Boyd appeared to injury her Achilles Thursday night in a 90-71 loss to the Minnesota Lynx. She did not return to the game, and her season may be over, according to Holly Rowe of ESPN.

The injury occurred midway through the fourth quarter, and Boyd was helped to the locker room shortly thereafter. Head coach Bill Laimbeer announced after the game that she will have an MRI on Friday, at which point we will know more.
If, in fact, she is finished for the season, this would be a massive blow for the Liberty. Boyd was off to a strong start, scoring in double figures in each of her first two games and providing a sure hand in an offense that could push the pace.
Her college coach, Cal’s Lindsay Gottlieb, posted the following note after the game:

We will have an update as soon as the results of the MRI are available.
