The Chicago Sky have waived guard Tori Jankoska and forward Shayla Cooper, the team announced Monday evening.
Jankoska was the Sky’s first-round pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft, taken ninth overall out of Michigan State. Cooper, out of Ohio State, was a training camp signee after the Connecticut Sun drafted her in the second round. Neither played in the SKy’s season-opening loss at Minnesota on Sunday.
The Sky made the move to open up a pair of roster spots for returners Allie Quigley and Courtney Vandersloot. The two are currently opposing each other in their Turkish league finals series. Quigley is a two-time WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year and is leading Fenerbahce Istanbul. Vandersloot, who plays for Yakin Dogu, was the third overall pick in 2011 and averaged 9.5 points and 4.7 rebounds last year.
Chicago is off until Friday, when it will host Atlanta in Rosemont.
